Your savings and retirement

Money is important to everyone regardless of age, but it becomes even more important when approaching retirement. How much you have saved, your possible future income and payment of any debts are linked to your peace of mind in later life. The sooner your financial plans in retirement are in place the better!

There are lots of sources of advice for making the most of your money, and the Australian Government has recently released a very useful booklet to help you. It is ‘Understanding money – How to make it work for you’.

Copies of the free booklet can be found at some government offices, such as Medicare, or can be ordered (freecall) on 1800 236 235. It can also be viewed online on the Understanding Money website.

The booklet is available in some community languages on the above website e.g. Greek, Italian and Chinese.
