Your Rights

The Australian Government is committed to maintaining a broad-minded, equitable and democratic society. Everyone is entitled to equal protection of the law and an effective remedy when their rights are breached. Everyone is also entitled to have access to information and advice about their rights when they need it.

The following sections provide information on individual and consumer's rights and responsibilities as well as complaints processes.

 

Covers information on Legislation provided by the Attorney Generals Department and the Human and Equal Opportunity Commission.

The main regulatory body in Australia that addresses the relevant concerns and issues of Australians over 50 is the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency.

Covers sources and core information for organisations such as Legal Aid, Community Legal Centres, The Commonwealth Ombudsman, Appeals and Complaints Tribunals, Legal and advocacy services for Australians over 50.

Includes those for veterans, Indigenous Australians, multilingual Australians, and those living in rural and remote areas.
