Question & Answer

We are discussing Overseas Volunteering
With Linda Elliot, Monica Kincade and Meghan Bailey

Question:
If I were to be a volunteer in Thailand for instance, would I still be able to collect my aged pension?

Answer:
Linda - If you are on an age pension, and are selected for a volunteer assignment in any of the countries where ABV operates, you must let Centrelink know that you will be out of Australia for a period. The same applies if you are planning a holiday overseas.

I suggest you go into the Centrelink website for further information. http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/payments/age_pension.htm

As an ABV volunteer you would not be earning income so your age pension entitlements should not be affected in this aspect.
