Department of Veteran Affairs
This site contains some very helpful information on home modifications, including some very useful fact sheets on loans, housing and accommodation as well as information on housing insurance.
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs provides support to the Repatriation Commission, who is responsible for granting pensions, allowances and other benefits, and providing treatment and other services through its hospital and institutions or through community facilities to veterans, their dependants and other eligible persons. Support is also provided to the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission (MRCA). The MRCA provides for compensation and other benefits for current and former members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) who suffer an injury or disease due to service, and for the dependants of members whose deaths were the result of an injury or disease due to service.

These centres can provide free and confidential information on home help and other support services available locally, interstate or anywhere within Australia. The Home and Community Care (HACC) Program
The Home and Community Care (HACC) Program is a national service that gives basic, long-term services to older people, younger people with disabilities and the carers of both groups. This programme aims to allow you to live safely and appropriately in the community and your own homes, rather than in nursing homes or hostels. Master Builders Association of the ACT
The Master Builders Association of the ACT is an association which represents all parts of the local housing and construction industry. Part of the Master Builders Association of the ACT, is the Housing for Life project. 'Housing for Life' also called 'Adaptable housing' is a home that can accommodate anybody, allowing different needs, lifestyles and age groups to safely and comfortably live at home. The Master Builders website also includes useful fact sheets on security, safety and service areas, including areas such as the bathroom, toilet, kitchen and laundry.

Councils on the Ageing ACT (COTA) National Seniors are the largest senior’s organisation in Australia. It protects and promotes the well-being of all older people and is an independent organisation run by older Australians.The Grey Army
