The Department of the Environment and Water Resources' primary concern is to protect the environment and water resources to ensure Australia's future. They have information on the government's plans for water reform, as well as information on community water grants and Australia's response to climate change.

Water saving in your state or territory


These organisations are all supported by the state governments. They can give you the most up-to-date information on water saving in your area, and have information sheets and brochures on a range of water saving topics available for download.

Water saving tips at home

  • Savewater is a not-for-profit organisation offering web resources and programs to help save water. It contains a catalogue of commercially available water-saving products as well as important information on rebates and incentives. Savewater also includes information on saving water in your business place, focussing on industries like food processing, hospitality, construction and textiles.
  • Water Smart is a community project that aims to inspire people to conserve water in their daily lives.
  • The Alternative Technology Association has many resources on making your house eco-friendly, including ways to conserve water. They also contain a section on Greywater systems.
  • H2Ouse is an American website with tips and suggestions to help you reduce water use in the home.
