Writers are everywhere! Chances are there is a writing or poetry group in your area, so check with your local council, local community centre or library and ask about writing groups, or you can search online using a search engine like Google for a nearby group. Here are some writing and poetry groups you can find online:

  • The Melbourne Poets Union Inc. is a not-for-profit poetry organisation that produces a bi-monthly publication of writing tips, competitions and upcoming events.
  • The Australia Society of Poets strives to encourage poets from all walks of life to contribute. They list poetry free of charge and run poetry competitions.
  • Did you know that romance fiction comprises 54.9% of fiction sold in the US? The Romance Writers of Australia Inc formed to promote romance writing in Australia. Although it costs to join the organisation, you can read articles and enter competitions for free.
  • The Australian Storytelling Guild has lots of information for storytellers and entertainers.
  • Auswriters.com is an online platform to publish your stories for other people to read and review.
