Question & Answer

We are discussing Journeys through Australia
With Ian Henderson, Leanne Mousley, Bev Malzard

Question:
My wife and I are thinking of visiting Kakadu National Park. I would like to know your thoughts on the best way to see it/experience it. We are very fit fifty-something so we are open to hiking and camping.

Answer:
Leanne - The best way to experience this area is by doing an overnight (minimum 1 but 3 nights would be the best duration) top end safari. You can either do a camping or fully accommodated safari depending on your preference. Various companies offer these types of tours. Territory Discoveries, a NT government funded tourist bureau, offers a wide range of operator choice and will cater for all different styles of accommodation. I would not suggest a camping or bushwalk holiday in this type of terrain, if you are not a local it is too dangerous. The other option if you only require camping would be to hire a guide to trek through the terrain. For further information Territory Discoveries would be able to put you on the right track, they have a fabulous brochure available; please call 134383 to order your copy.
