The risk of death from tobacco consumption exceeds that of any other addiction, exposure or injury. Smoking is responsible for 30% of all cancers and 25% of heart disease and strokes. People who smoke are also more likely to develop Emphysema - a chronic, obstructive lung disease which leads to lung and heart failure.

For medical advice about giving up smoking see your medical practitioner or pharmacist. For general information about stopping smoking visit the web site of Quit Australia.
