Senior Australian of the Year

The Senior Australian of the Year Award was a major initiative launched by the Commonwealth Government during the 1999 International Year of Older Persons and is awarded to Australians aged 60 years and over who continue to make a significant contribution to the success of the country.

The Senior Australian of the Year Award presents a tremendous opportunity for the Australian Government to acknowledge the value, wisdom, experience and contribution of senior Australians to the nation.

Nominations are now being called for the 2005 Senior Australian of the Year Awards, to be announced on Australia Day 2005.

In addition to the national award, there are also Senior Australian of the Year awards for each state and territory. If you know a senior Australian who has made a notable contribution to Australian society - whether in a paid or unpaid capacity, in public or private life - you are encouraged to consider nominating them for an award.

Nomination forms are available now on line at Australian of the Year or by phoning 1300 655 193. Nominations forms will also be available from Commonwealth Bank branches from 30 June 2004.

National Lifestyle for Housing Seniors Award

This award is part of the Master Builders of Australia Awards and is sponsored by the Department of Health and Ageing as recognition of builders and organisations who build dwellings in accordance with the diverse needs of Australians over 50. For further information and nomination forms, visit the Department of Health and Ageing website.
