Area Consultative Committees (ACCs)

Area Consultative Committees are non-profit, community-based organisations funded by the Australian Government under the Regional Partnerships programme. As volunteer community based organisations, ACCs are uniquely placed to respond to issues in their regions and provide a vital conduit to government on local, social and economic conditions.

There are 56 ACCs across Australia serving rural, regional, remote and metropolitan communities. The national network effectively covers the whole of Australia. ACC's position themselves as key regional stakeholders to build networks and partnerships to find local solutions to local problems. Through these networks, ACC's promote and disseminate information on Government priorities and programmes for the benefit of business and the community.

Conservation Volunteer Australia (CVA)

The aim of CVA is to attract and manage a force of volunteers in practical conservation projects for the betterment of the Australian environment.
CVA has more than 2000 projects across the country each year.

If you have a love for the outdoors and an interest in the environment, then contact CVA. You don’t need any prior skills and it is suited for all backgrounds.

Indigenous Community Volunteers (ICVs)

Indigenous Community Volunteers go to Indigenous communities to transfer their skills, and when they leave, those skills and knowledge are passed on and remain with that community. They are people who respect Indigenous communities and culture, and who can adjust to urban, rural or remote areas. Most requests are for volunteers with business related skills, including business planning and development, project management, office and financial administration and systems, and IT.

Other skills areas include marketing, horticulture, diet and health, communication and presentation, art and craft, tourism, mechanics, handyman and trades jobs, and teaching. There is no cost for volunteers - ICV pays for travel and a basic living allowance.
