About Paul Flint
I am Executive Director of COTA, which I joined after twenty years in the Commonwealth public service. During my period with the public service, I started in economic research and moved into policy development areas.
Within COTA my responsibilities include policy development work. As a key member in a small advocacy office I cover a wide range of issues including substitute decision-making, residential aged care planning and access to health services. Budget and other government submissions are another aspect of my advocacy work.
In addition, I manage CLASP, the safety and security program to reduce risks in and around the home. CLASP has assisted over 5000 households and has been evaluated by an independent consultant who found that it is effective - client satisfaction is extremely high and people are able to effectively improve their safety and security.
As a consequence of the CLASP work, ACT Community Care commissioned a review of the role of Occupational Therapists and the system of home modifications in the ACT. I undertook this review.
