About Neil Evans
I am currently the National Director Technical and Regulatory Policy for Master Builders Australia. My experience in the building industry commenced 30 years ago, working on high rise commercial projects in Melbourne. I gained further experience working in the residential sector for eight years whilst completing my qualifications as a municipal building surveyor. Further industry experience was gained in local government issuing building permits and inspecting buildings for compliance with the relevant building Codes on behalf of Council. I joined the Master Builders Association of Victoria in 1994, where I held the position of MBAV’s building surveyor and the principal function was to represent the builders’ interests when speaking to Government on relevant industry issues.
I managed the Technical Services Department for the MBAV which consisted of 16 full time staff and 4 part timers who provided technical support and services to members of the MBAV. I have been with Master Builders Australia since 2003 where my primary function is to represent Master Builders nationally on the Building Codes Committee, Technical and Steering Committees of the Australian Building Codes Board voicing views of the industry in the development of new building regulations.
I represent Master Builders Australia on 25 Australian Standards Committees which involve standards that commercial and domestic buildings have to meet.
I look forward to participating in this panel forum offering advice and ideas to seniors who are considering carrying out work on their homes or other buildings.
