About Virginia Tressider

Virginia Tressider stumbled into a career as a writer while studying for a PhD on thirteenth century theories of conscience. Asked to join the editorial team for a social science journal, she was delighted to discover an alternative source of income which didn’t involve teaching, or even meeting people.

Since then, Virginia has done a stint as a press monitor, written for a range of magazines, been a ghost-writer and speechwriter, edited magazines and books and ventured into the online world. With hindsight, she has no regrets about her early tendency to take on projects on subjects she knew nothing about – it has allowed her to sit at her desk and become fascinated by many things she would never have expected to find interesting.

At present, the desk is in an old church in the Snowy Mountains, which she shares with an Irishman, a Great Dane (down from a record of twelve – ten of them puppies), numerous pieces of taxidermy and about three thousand books. She still isn’t very good at meeting people, and thinks email is the greatest invention since painless dentistry.
