About Michelle Walker

Michelle Walker.I am the Water Conservation Officer for the Northern Territory (NT) Department of Natural Resources, Environment and The Arts (NRETA). Based in Alice Springs, the focus of my role is to help the community become more aware of water related issues and to improve individuals’ ability to save water in homes, gardens, schools and businesses.

One of my roles is to coordinate the NT Government Waterwise Rebate Scheme, which allows each household in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek a $50 rebate on various water saving devices. I also manage the NT Waterwise in Schools program which provides local schools with financial support to allow students and teachers to work together to make their schools more water efficient.

I'm happy to answer any questions relating to water resource management in the Northern Territory or regarding water conservation in general. You may want to know about ways to save water in your home or garden, or you may want answers to questions such as how water is supplied to those living in the Desert?

Fast fact: Did you know that, on average, residents of the Northern Territory use around twice as much water as residents of other Australian states?
