About the Department of Health and Ageing - Diabetes Section
The Diabetes Section of The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing has responsibility for the management of the National Diabetes Strategy, which provides funding for initiatives to improve health outcomes along the diabetes continuum of care, in line with the Nationals Service Improvement Framework for Diabetes. This includes development and implementation of Evidence Based Clinical Guidelines for Diabetes, Diabetes Prevention Pilot Initiatives, the National Diabetes Register, the National Integrated Diabetes Program and funding for research into Islet Cell transplantation.
