We are discussing Physical Activity - Being Out and About
With Entry not found in index

Question:
How do I get into exercise?

Answer:
Pauline· Any older person considering participating in a new exercise or physical activity program should consult their doctor before beginning. With any program it is always important to be realistic, start out slowly and set some goals to work towards.

Do some research and get help! There is a huge amount of choice and types of exercise programs and activities now available throughout the community.Recreation and Fitness centres offer a range of classes and programs including specially tailored strength programs such as Living Longer, Living Stronger, and Strength for Life (SA). Within the community there is a wide range of activities from Tai Chi, Yoga, Community Fitness and Dance, to Walking Groups, Aqua exercise, swimming and Table Tennis- to name a few!

In all cases make sure the activity you are interested in is led by a qualified instructor. Activity and exercise directories should be available from your Local Council, State Government Office for Recreation and Sport or local Recreation/Fitness centres.

Remember –it’s never too late to start out and it’s never too late to get fit and have fun in the process of adding life to your valuable years! For more information visit the Active Ageing website.
