The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is a Commonwealth statutory authority that promotes competition and fair trade in the market place to benefit consumers, business and the community. It also regulates national infrastructure services. The primary responsibility of the ACCC is to ensure that individuals and businesses comply with the Commonwealth competition, fair trading and consumer protection laws.

Financial calculators are handy, online tools that project everything from loan repayments, mortgage timelines, tax deduction entitlements, savings plans and compound interest to life insurance and average death rates. For the most comprehensive selection of finance calculators you can go to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) website and get a full list of their financial calculators.

Infochoice is an Australian company that provides financial information via free membership.

The NSW Office of Fair Trading has easy-to understand information on managing bank accounts, credit transactions and financial planning specifically aimed at senior Australians.

The Australian Government Treasury has a section of their consumer information website dedicated to finance and banking, and is another good source of financial information.

The Australian Consumers Association are an independent non profit organisation with an excellent site dedicated to the testing of products and services then presenting their findings to Australian Consumers.

The Superannuation Association of Australia has an excellent range of information relating to Superannuation products and services, changes that affect superannuation, and a calculator that you can utilise to estimate your retirement funds you will have available.

Many banks, credit unions and tax return companies also conduct regular financial planning seminars, so it is also worthwhile to contact your local financial institution to see if any are available to attend in your area.

For online payment of bills you can visit Post Bills, which is the relevant section of the Australia Post website.
