Centrelink customers may be eligible for an advance payment of their Pension or benefit. You qualify for an advance payment if you have been receiving one of the following payments (or a combination of any of the below) for a continuous period of 3 months:

  • ABSTUDY
  • Age Pension
  • Austudy Payment
  • Carer Payment (adult)
  • Carer Payment (child)
  • Disability Support Pension
  • Mature Age Allowance
  • Newstart Allowance
  • Parent Payment (Single)
  • Widow Allowance
  • Widow 'B' Pension, and
  • Wife Pension.

This is recovered, interest-free, from their payments over the next 13 fortnights. An advance payment can only be paid once in any 12 month period. However, the advance can be paid in two separate instalments.

Visit the Advance Payment section of the Centrelink website.
