Question & Answer

We are discussing Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
With Deanne O'Keefe and Anne Clarke

Question:
Is there additional assistance for the cost of child care for grandparent carers?

Answer:
Anne - Eligible grandparents who are primary carers of their grandchildren can receive Child Care Benefit for up to 50 hours of approved care, per child, per week, as opposed to the 20 hours per child, per week normally available to carers who are not working, training or studying.

Grandparents receiving an income support payment and who are primary carers of their grandchildren may be eligible for the Grandparent Child Care Benefit (GCCB), which covers the full cost of approved child care for up to 50 hours of approved care a week, per child.
