Question & Answer

We are discussing Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
With Deanne O'Keefe and Anne Clarke

Question:
My wife and I would like to gain legal custody of our granddaughter, who lives with us permanently. Are we entitled to Legal Aid Assistance for this?

Answer:
Attorney-General's Department - The Australian Government provides funding to legal aid commissions to provide assistance in family law matters. Whether or not an individual will receive a grant of legal aid is determined by the legal aid commission and will depend on the circumstances. You should contact your nearest Legal Aid Commission office to discuss your matter.

This answer has kindly been provided on behalf of the Attorney-General's Department
