Question & Answer

We are discussing Gardening, Growing and Green Thumbs!
With Brian Walters, Diana O'Brien and Pauline Cornish

Question:
I have a Camellia Sasanqua hedge growing in full sun and some of the leaves are going brown. Any advice?

Answer:
Pauline - Because of the hot, windy and dry conditions we have been experiencing recently, it is most likely that what you are seeing is leaf scorch.

Camellias respond to even watering patterns, particularly in summer months and if the current weather conditions continue watering regularly will be a must.

I suggest you water the soil well and then mulch. New leaves should be coming now and if they remain green the plants should survive.

Camellia hedges are very beautiful and well worth the small amount of care in these hot conditions.
