If you cannot afford to pay daily fees and accommodation payments due to Financial Hardship, you may not be asked to do so. The Australian Government ensures that care is affordable for everyone.

Between 16 per cent and 40 per cent of places (depending on the region) are reserved for concessional residents - those who cannot afford to pay. The Australian Government pays the accommodation charges for concessional residents.

There are also hardship provisions available for those who have difficulty in paying. These provisions allow, on application to the Department of Health and Ageing, for fees and charges to be waived or reduced.

If you have any questions about residential aged care, please call the Aged and Community Care Information Line from anywhere in Australia on 1800 500 853
