Death and dying

The subject of death and dying is a key part to practical living, as effective planning ensures you and your trusted friends and family don’t need to worry about funerals etc during a time of distress. In order to effectively plan for death and dying you need to be able to address subjects such as your will, a living will if required, funeral arrangements, palliative care for a loved one, and how to cope with bereavement.

While everyone knows death is a certainty, very few people understand the stages of bereavement and how to cope with it.

Edith Cowan University of Western Australia has developed guidelines for the delivery of palliative care in residential aged care.

Pre planning your funeral can be very informal, and as simple as doing a pre planning checklist and sharing your wishes with a family member.
