Extreme circumstances breed heroism, a run for the Beatles!
When the Beatles came to town, I was a day student at a girls catholic boarding college; which was one block away from the hotel where the Beatles were staying in Sydney. The nuns were keen to maintain, control and avoid mass truancy on the day they arrived. There were multiple assemblies and any student who could not be accounted for on the day was threatened with the full weight of the headmistresses anger.
I was in year seven and was suitably scared, as was most of the school. On the day, as one of the sisters was attempting to teach us French verbs, we could hear distant hysterical screeches through the classroom windows. Despite the nuns best efforts, extreme circumstances breed heroism and one student in year seven showed her courage and was seen disappearing in the direction of the hotel. She was immortalised as a real rebel who could not be cowered or deflected from her destiny. Go girl !
