Horror story

Hello, I have a terrible story about family cooking which a family friend used to tell my daughter. He came from a poor family, unemployed father, not much by way of education, the usual story, and of course there were too many kids in his family which made times even tighter. They used to eat nothing but soup and bread and cheese a lot of the time...

Anyway the friend had two pet rabbits in a hutch in the garden. One winter when things were looking grim, his mum served up an interesting meal... a mystery meat that my friend said was simply delicious. He couldn't work out what he'd eaten until the next day when he went out to feed the rabbits and discovered they were gone.

Now when our families go to dinner it's not uncommon for him to sit back in his chair and say, "Well that meal wasn't a patch on my rabbits..."

My daughter who had rabbits growing up as well used to be very scared by that story, and made me promise that we wouldn’t eat her rabbits ever, even if we didn’t have any food.

Not really the kind of man you want to invite over for dinner too often, let me tell you... Lucky he's a funny man otherwise he'd get less invitations...
