Jimmy Nichol

When Jimmy Nichol was called up to replace Ringo for the Hong Kong part of the tour he was in such a rush that he borrowed my brother’s red Suitcase which is the one he is pictured carrying when leaving Tullamarine , on return to the United Kingdom Jimmy , my brother and others such as Red Price formed a group called 'Jimmy Nichol and the Shubdubs' and of course were well greeted when appearing at The Cavern. They subsequently replaced Dave Clark Five in Blackpool for the summer season with Dick Emery.

When the suitcase was returned it was full of what then would be deemed junk and I remember going through it and finding things like the hotel register of guests with room and phone numbers including of course John, Paul and George, at the time it didn’t seem important but I now wish I had kept it, but having grown up with The Beatles, Rory Storm, Georgy Fame, Gerry and the Pacemakers and The Searchers etc it didn’t seem important at the time.
