Going on Picnics

My wife and I started dating when we were in high school together. We were 15 and we used to go on picnics down by the Yarra. On our first date we went down to the lawns near the Fairfield boathouse and sat there most of the afternoon, feeding the ducks and hiring a boat to go out on the river. It was such a great way to spend a sunny afternoon in Melbourne.

I don’t remember having much pressure on us from our parents, I guess they were quite forward thinking for those days. We were never questioned on where we were going or what we were doing. And I think for that reason we were less likely to do anything that our parents wouldn’t approve of. Being an overbearing parent doesn’t always pay!
