What to do when getting out of a business? This section covers information about closing, selling or winding up a business: Close down your business

When closing, selling or winding up a small business there are a number of government regulations concerning company and business name deregistration, employee payments and cancellation of taxation registrations to be met.

Another resource is the Centrelink Financial Information Service: an education and expert information service available to everyone in the community. This service helps you to make informed decisions about financial issues for your current and future needs. The advisers will be able to give you advice on either downsizing or closing your business. The advisers are not financial planners and do not give or sell advice or purchase investment products. They do not make calculations about or decisions about your pension.

The Financial Information Service holds a series of free seminars each year covering a range of topics crucial to planning your financial future. The seminars are intended to complement those run by the finance industry. They are presented sequentially to allow progression through topics and from basic to advanced. Financial Information Service advises customers about the level (basic or advanced) of seminars when they book to attend a seminar.
