Certification is needed before an aged care home is able to charge accommodation bonds or charges or receive concessional resident supplements.
Factors considered are:

  • the standard of the buildings and equipment
  • the standard of the residential care being provided, and
  • the home's compliance with its responsibilities and obligations arising from receiving Australian Government payments.

While aged care home homes generally only need to go through the certification process once, they can be reviewed at any time.

If you have any questions about residential aged care, please call the Aged Care Information Line from anywhere in Australia on 1800 500 853
