Carer Support

Carer support is a critical service provided by a range of Government organisations from the Department of Health and Ageing to Alzheimers Australia and other local support groups around the country. Below are some relevant programs and services available to carers, and for more local support, consult your doctor or counsellor.

 

A supplementary payment available to parents or carers who provide daily care and attention at home for adults or children with a disability or severe medical condition.

A payment for carers who, because of the demands of their caring role, are unable to support themselves through full participation in the workforce.

Provide carers with information and advice about their caring role and the services and assistance available to them.

Free to carers and provides practical information to support them in their caring role.

Can help to arrange respite care when you need a break from caring.

These services are all run by Alzeimers Australia, the peak body providing support and advocacy for the 500,000 Australians living with dementia.

Is an information and referral telephone service for people with incontinence and their carers.

Covers support groups, Government reports and other services for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren q and a Forum.
