The National Information Communication Awareness Network (NICAN) maintains a directory of organisations, activities and services for people with a disability, their support workers, families, friends and others in the community. The Database has information for people with a disability relating to sports, recreation, tourism, and the arts. You can search the NICAN database, or freecall 1800 806 796.

Deaflympic Games

The Deaflympic Games is a world-class sporting event for Deaf and Hard of Hearing athletes from around the world. As the peak international sporting competition for elite deaf athletes, the 2005 Summer Deaflympics are a significant event for Australians generally, and for Australia's Deaf Community in particular.

The 20th Summer Deaflympic Games were held in Melbourne and Ballarat between 5-16 January 2005. More than 3,500 athletes and team officials from 85 countries are expected to attend and participate in 15 sports.
