Accessibility features
Seniors.gov.au has been designed with a number of features to help people with disabilities, such as people with deteriorating eyesight, to use the site. The accessibility features available include:
- Text size changing. Seniors.gov.au enables you to change the size of the text on the site using the '-' or '+' links available at the top right-hand side/top of the page.
- Accessible pages. Seniors.gov.au has been designed to comply with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines V1.0 at Priority Level 2, making the site usable for a wide range of people with special needs and for users using software such as text browsers and screen readers.
- Access keys. Seniors.gov.au makes it easy to navigate the site using the keyboard by defining a number of access keys or keyboard shortcuts to particular pages on the site and to particular parts of a page.
There are several online websites dedicated to providing products and services to help users with special needs. One of the best sites is E-bility, which has an extensive directory of software and tools to help people with special needs. Another excellent information resource is Accessibility.com.au.
