National Lifestyle Housing for Seniors Award Winners

The Master Builders Association National Award Winners for the National Lifestyle Housing for Seniors were announced in Canberra.

This award was jointly developed by the Department of Health and Ageing and Master Builders Australia, in order to encourage those involved in planning, designing and building our communities to prepare for the changes that an ageing population will bring.

Inappropriate housing or poorly designed communities are factors that can force people to move prematurely into residential aged care, when we know that most people want to remain in their own homes and familiar communities as they age. Good housing and urban design can play a major role in allowing older Australians to age in place and remain active.
