The Senior Australian of the Year Award - 1999

State and National awards, which recognise and celebrate the contribution of older Australians to the community. This award is managed by the National Australia Day Council.

Slim Dusty

Slim was an Australian music legend, famously known as ‘the singing cowboy’. He recorded music for fifty years and made almost a hundred albums. Throughout his very successful career, he touched the lives of many people. He worked with the Australian Heart Foundation, visited the sick, and played concerts for those less fortunate.

Visit the Australian of the Year website for more information about the 1999 Senior Australian of the Year Awards.
