Instructions



Viewing messages


To view current messages, simply select a topic by clicking on the name and a list of the messages will appear. You can view the messages in order by ‘Most recent message first’ or by ‘Nickname’ by selecting the relevant link, you will find this at the top of the page. To look at more messages on the same topic, you can select ‘Next’ or one of the page numbers which you will find on the bottom of the page.

Selecting another topic

You can view another topic through the ‘Select another topic’ option at the top and bottom of the page. Select a topic and then hit ‘Go’.


Creating your own profile (user nickname)


To join the Meeting Place, you must fill out all mandatory fields (*) in the form which you will find at the bottom of the Meeting Place ‘Join Meeting Place discussion’. A nickname is a name that you can make up that will appear with your comment once it is posted on the Meeting Place. You then need to enter your email address which will not be available to the public. If you have any concerns about this, please read our Privacy Policy.


Sending a message


At the bottom of the Meeting Place topics pages is a form ‘Contribution to this discussion’ for you to fill out. Simply fill in your nickname and email address and in the lower box, enter in your comment. You can also contribute anonymously. Please make sure that you have read our usage policy as inappropriate comments will not be posted. Messages can be no longer than 800 characters. Once you have done this, select ‘Contribute’. Your message will then be sent to the seniors.gov.au Online Media Team, and if it meets our usage policy, it will be presented on the Meeting Place as soon as possible. Please note that, to guard against identity theft, we will not publish email addresses which clearly identify the person. For example, we will not publish johnsmith@emailaddress.com, but would approve johndrinksbeer@emailaddress.com. If your email address clearly identifies you and you want to invite direct contact from other users, please open a webmail account with one of the many free services, using a name which does not indicate who you are.


Suggesting a topic


Seniors.gov.au would love to hear your suggestions for a Meeting Place topic. On the home page of the Meeting Place, under the list of topics, is a link to ‘Suggest a topic’. Once you have selected the link, you simply have to fill in the form with your suggestion and your email address. Once you have submitted a suggestion it will be sent to the seniors.gov.au Online Media Team for consideration.
